.The beach in Tel Aviv yesterday afternoon, looking south towards Jaffa (If you're not familiar with Israeli geography, this is the Mediterranean coast)
.It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and people headed for the beach in droves. We spent the afternoon in our favorite beach bar drinking happy hour cocktails and gorging on Mexican food walking along the beach. I took this (and many other pictures that I will probably soon subject you to) after Maya decided that enough was enough and headed straight into the still a bit chilly water, followed soon after by her "there's no such thing as too cold" father..Visit Aileni (at his new home!) for more monochrome madness..
I don't think about Tel Aviv having a beach. So Mum didn't make it into the water then? When I was little I'd have been in the sea by this time of year - and that's in cold Wales! I could never understand why my mum wouldn't come in as well! These days it's a good summer if I go in the sea once!

I appreciate this atmosphere of a sunny afternoon. Before watching your picture, I'm not sure I would have tried to change a beach scene from colour in B&W. Now, watching the result, I think I'll try the experience. Maybe, mine won't be that good, but I can assure you that yours is perfect, Robin.
That scene is perfect in monochrome.

What a great beach picture! There is so much happening. And what a perfect moment to capture the jumping little chap or chappesse whose mother looks a bit chilly.
ReplyDeleteA day at the beach just 24 hours ago...and in B&W it could have been even longer ago, at least in appearance. Looks like it came out of an old album. ;-)

ReplyDeleteGreat beach picture. I think they work really well in B&W and remind me of my early days in photography shooting in monochrome because I couldn't afford color.

ReplyDeleteWhere do you gorge on Mexican Food? I always had the darndest time finding good Mexican... and our favorite restaurant, Chimichanga closed down about 1.5 years ago!
ReplyDeleteI used to love Chimichanga. My husband works right nearby and we were so sad when it burned down... The new pseudo-Italian place there is "fine", but boring.
ReplyDeleteThis was uber-casual Americanized Mexican, not real Mexican. Burritos, soft DIY tacos, that sort of thing, at Mike's Place right next to the Embassy. We love it there - during the day it's very kid friendly. They have those computer screens at a few tables which keeps M occupied, and Itai loves the non-stop sports on the big screen tv's. Personally I love the happy hour cocktails and the really great fries ;-).
My girls wanted to go to the beach yesterday. I'm sure our mediterranean water is still cold, too. We'll wait a couple of weeks :)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot from the beach. It has a classic feel to it. Could be from any decade. I think there is something about monochrome which creates an affect that makes time harder to place which I like.
