Geez, is this woman ever going to run out of Old City shots to post?
.
Answer: Not for a while yet - it's just too photogenic, I couldn't help myself, I probably shot 300 photos in an afternoon. (Not to worry, I won't subject you to
.
I took this shot with Window Views in mind, but the old stones seemed a natural fit for Sepia Scenes as well so I tried the shot both ways.
.
.
Personally, I still like the full-color shot the best. I think the grime and the rust keep that element of reality and contribute to the feeling of the image as a tiny corner of the world that time forgot.
.
Which one do you prefer?
.

Summer Stock Sunday is off and running - see you there!
.
I have to agree with you Robin. The full color shot is definitely more effective in this case. Keep the Old City pictures coming. They are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHi Robin,
ReplyDeleteSepia is perfect for these old windows and their age; but I think I prefer the look and patina of the original - it's a great shot.
I've been away but have noticed your Summer Stock Sunday here and there and hope to join in this week.
I agree the color looks best, so many wonderful shades and textures.
ReplyDeleteSuper photo.
I LOVE your city shots! There's nothing like them near me. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe first one, only because I've been dyeing fabric with rust. I now have a deeper appreciation for each unique piece of rust. Beautiful rusted shutters!
ReplyDeleteHow funny EG, since I think exactly the same thing when I see all those beautiful country shots you post!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're able to join us this week too Carletta but you certainly have the very best of reasons for being away :).
You've been dying with rust? Do tell more.
ReplyDeletei love windows as subjects, will make a point to keep coming back for the old city tour snaps.
ReplyDeleteHello Robin,
ReplyDeleteI like these windows...so much character! Was just facebooking with a friend I have in Israel. She was eating dinner while I was eating breakfast!
I am not getting tired of your Jerusalem photos at all.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I am enjoying rust. It looks good on picture I have to admit. I can almost sense the smell of rust though. Why is the rust there? Does the rust say : Old - or Neglect?
ReplyDeleteI'm so enjoying these. the photos are fantastic. Thanks so much for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI prefer the sepia...Sepia and stonework, that seems like such a natural pairing. Take all the pictures you can in the Old City. There are so many eye-catching details and complex shapes, we want to look and linger at all of them - at least I would...
ReplyDeleteI like them both, they're each effective but for different reasons. The shutters are a great treat.
ReplyDeleteI think I like the first better since the rust just makes the shutters. They are both great though.
ReplyDeleteThe sepia effect is really wondeful. It seems to be a sketch and a photo at once.
ReplyDeleteI like both of them - I don't think I could pick a favorite. They're both really neat!
ReplyDeleteThese are two great photos. I like the first better, but it is also a great sepia shot!
ReplyDeleteit is a great sepia but you're right, the grime and rust add to the shot
ReplyDeletebeautiful photos Robin
Both are good, but I agree and like the color better!
ReplyDeleteI think I would go crazy carrying a camera in a city like Jerusalem!
ReplyDeleteKeep them coming, don't hold back, it's fascinating!
I prefer the one in full color. I like the rusty accents in it.
Photos of the old city are wonderful,
ReplyDeletewindow studies from the old city are
so interesting...keep them coming.
I like the colored one too! come see my window views
Something blue
W@OW, those windows are great!
ReplyDeleteI do like the colour version Best too.
Beautiful!
These windows fit sepia perfectly! :)
ReplyDeleteI prefer the color shot also. It has more texture.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you have more old city photos up your sleeve!
ReplyDeleteThey're both great, it's hard to choose between the two.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely full color. I love that one.
ReplyDeleteYep - I prefer the full colour. The grime and rust have a strange beauty in this pic.
ReplyDeleteMy entry is here:

IMO, the top one .. I like all the aging those windows have which get lost in the sepia version
ReplyDeleteThe color of the first makes it feel more dimensional than the second. I much prefer it.
ReplyDeleteVery special windows ! I like them !
ReplyDeleteI think I also prefer the color . . . and I hope you never stop putting up pictures of the old city. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely! I've not seen metal shutters before... I guess they're metal - looks like rust on them. Wonderful for sepia!
ReplyDeleteI'd say you nailed the proverbial two birds in one shot... well sort of anyway. Being a fan of urban decay, you know I love the first one, but you're right... sepia is a completely appropriate treatment for this subject. And frankly, it would be well served by black and white too I think.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you found a "Can't Miss" photo op! And did a marvelous job with it.
And you can "subject me to" all of these you like!
Both are wonderful! Great subject you found. Nice post.
ReplyDeleteI love all your photos. Keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeletePaz
Both look interesting, but I also prefer the first natural shot, it has a special character.
ReplyDeleteWow, Robin! I think I DO prefer the color photo with its orange rust. Don't tell anyone...sshhh! The symmetry of the shot is wonderful! Happy Sepia Scenes and Window Views!
ReplyDeleteWonderful window shots! It's hard to decided which I like best. I think I might actually like it in sepia better.
ReplyDeletefull color (no contest)
ReplyDeleteVery nice shot I like the full colour also.
ReplyDeleteBoth photos are wonderful. I think the sepia one looks like something from an old photo album or book. The coloured version is a reminder of how well they have stood the test of time.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're out there taking all those photos and sharing as you 'play' with them too! I always have trouble deciding which I like best because they each appeal to me for different reasons ... but today I do prefer the first shot with a bit of rustic color.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Oh so many comments. here let me add mine . WONDERFUL!. No such civilized history in my beloved country.
