Olive tree against a stone wall

This was really more of an olive trunk, rather than a whole tree. In fact, I'm not sure it was still growing at all. If I remember correctly it was now just a decorative piece in the garden, a semi-living sculpture if you will. To me this one looks like a figure with its arms upstretched.

  1. It sure does! Wow..I like this Robin..it's great in mono against the stone. I wonder how tall they get? By the looks of this, I bet they get pretty big.

  2. They actually get more wide and twisted looking than tall. I'll be posting an example of a really huge one later this week (probably for WW).

  3. "Semi-living sculpture"--that's nice.
Olive wood always seems alive, even when it is physically dead.

  7. I love it. I could spend hours looking at it, but there's also this strange compulsion to touch it, maybe even hug it. Weird...

  8. I thought olives came from a jar. I guess you learn something every day. Nice shot, but I would like to see it in its natural colors too.

  9. I think you're right about the arms. Nice contrast between the rough, crooked tree and the straight lines of the wall.

  10. One of the most versatile trees there are. I even drink a bit of it each morning.

  11. Olive trees have a very strong character. This one looks like a human body!

  12. Reminds me of the ents, those creatures from Tolkien's imaginative world. Did the one pictured share any of its wisdom with you?

  14. Great shot. Their is something very appealing about the tree against the wall. Maybe it's the mix of textures and lines.

  16. Now there is a picture that says "Jerusalem" without any words. I absolutely love it. It is symbolic of so many things. Thanks for sharing it.

  17. You really got the tones and textures on this one. Looks like a toned platinum print.

  18. Hi Robin! I love knowing that's it's an old olive tree, live or not. It's very iconic from a western point of view.
