Heading into Day 10 of Sick Kid at Home

.
I finally sent both kids off to school today (one or the other has been home sick for the past NINE days - I'm losing what's left of my mind) but we didn't even make it an entire day before I got that dreaded phone call. So much for my happy dance. Maya's relapsed - the fever's back and she's added an ear infection just for a little extra fun. Needless to say she's home again tomorrow. Poor kid has had enough, and it goes without saying that so has her mother.
.
I'm too tired to blog. Enjoy this instead while I go heat up her warm pillow, again, and then head over to Wordless Wednesday to see what other people aren't saying this week. (And while we're at it, I think this one qualifies over here as well.)

  1. It's pretty cool to see what Wednesday looks like while I'm still stuck in a Tuesday-without-end.

    It's gorgeous, by the way...

  2. Oh Robin, poor you!
I've had this a few times over the years, and it's exhausting.
Take care, and we'll be here when you get back.
    Lovely flowers, BTW.

  4. I would take her to my local chiropractor. He's good with kids' illnesses and GREAT with curing ear infections. But he's here in Highland Park.

See if you can find a good chiro for Maya. A well-recommended one.

    Love the photograph. It's gorgeous.

  6. Oh I LIKE this! Wonderfully warm.

And if I had to guess, I'd guess that it's the fever on top of the ear infection not the other way round. Most likely the ear infection is causing the fever. I got to be something of an expert on the subject with my eldest. He seemed to keep an ear infection until he was maybe 6 or 7 and we finally had the tubes done. After that? I could count 'em on one hand over the next 20 years. Hope she's feeling better soon!

  9. I hope your daughter feels better real soon...it is exhausting...for both the sick child AND the mom! I went through a terrible time with my daughter for the first year and a half of her life...constant ear infections. Just under the age of two, they put the tubes in and it was totally amazing what a difference it made!!! I was very nervous about having it done when she was so little, but there were babies in the office having it done that were about nine months old! Love the flowers!!

  10. Thanks for all the get well wishes everyone.

This is actually her first ear infection ever so I don't think tubes are quite in order yet ;). I don't think an ear infection caused the original fever, she had that for 6 days first and at the first doctor's visit he didn't find any signs of it, I suspect her ear was just one more victim of the original virus that pretty much knocked her flat.

Whatever it is we are both quite ready for it to be done, that's for sure.

  23. Poor Maya .. I've wish we lived a lot closer many times, but now more than ever because I have this 'pillow' filled with something that when its put in the microwave for a few minutes turns into a healing pillow with a nice aroma of lavender which is very soothing

As for you .. a cocktail at 5 pm is definitely on the menu!

  24. Sorry that Maya isn't feeling well. I've been a bit ill this week as well (even my cat was feeling out of sorts for a day) - this winter seems to be far worse than previous.
