Rubies for Tuesday

I haven't the faintest idea what kind of flowers these little red ones growing in a formal garden in Portsmouth, NH's Prescott Park are but I quite liked them, they remind me of strawberries.

*ding ding ding* - Ten points to Carletta who just identified this as a Strawberry Fields plant (see, it DOES look like strawberries!), or more officially a Gomphrena Haageana.

Click to enlarge. More rubies can be found here.

  8. Hi Robin,
    Lovely shot and DOF!

I think your flower is actually called "Strawberry Fields" - a Gomphrena Haageana flower.

  10. Delicate rubies, the berry appearing flowers are lovely. They grow wild yet have a cultivated look - small and powerful rubies...

  11. Well if you don't know flowers, know your florist. and if you don't know jewelry, know your spammer.

All kidding aside, it's a great shot. And I alla time take photos of flowers I have no idea what they are.
