Wrangling cats

I just spent half an hour trying (fairly unsuccessfully) to get a decent photograph of all four grandchildren. In every one, someone's eyes were closed, or they had their hands up in front of their face (nice work Grandma telling the baby to clap - he was the only one that didn't end up with his hands clapping directly in front of his face), or they were half out of the frame (Maya), or they got an incredibly forced cheesy grin (my niece), or... It seriously was like wrangling cats. Not to mention that the original plan had been to have them in the nice green backyard full of nice natural light, but Mother Nature instead saw fit to spend yet another day raining (even today's front page newspaper headline said "Enough Already!"), so inside it was.
This one is the best of the lot, but that's not saying much. And yes, I do know that my nephew has a hairbrush in his mouth. No one succeeded in getting it away from him and we knew the chance to have them all reasonably clean, decently dressed, smiling and in one location wouldn't come again soon so we just went for it.

It could have been worse - most of them looked like this:

I think it's a fantastic picture! (and now you know how I feel trying to get a decent picture of my brood)

yes, this is why i don't have any good pictures of all three of my children at once. you did great - this one is beautiful! the hairbrush just adds to the story of the picture! (he'll love it when he's 25!)

That is so cute. And your nephew has your eyes.

By the way, you had me laughing out loud at the slipper comment when you stopped by earlier! Loved it. Thanks for that!

I think it is a brilliant shot!

That photo resembles most of ours... nobody ever sits still. Or smiles at the same time. :)

Adorable! I know how tough that can be! Itai and Maya look absolutely sweet as pie.

I read a tip once about getting group shots. They recommend having everyone close their eyes and then open them on command. Usually it helps prevent the blinking problem.

I haven't tried this one yet, but it seems like a good idea. Of course, that one little guy in your photo may be a bit too little.

Great photo though!!!
