Hospitals are definitely open (though elective surgery isn't performed). There is also an "on-duty" pharmacy in every city. In Tel Aviv and some other areas observance is less universal, with restaurants and places of entertainment staying open while most stores are closed.
In more observant areas everything (non-essential) is closed.
And no, of course it's not a stupid question. Asking questions is the best way to learn :).
