I thought I'd experiment with something a bit different for this week's Ruby Tuesday. The original shot wasn't very interesting, just a fading flower's last gasp. I like it better this way, it seems to have more to say.

What do you think? Clever twist, or ugly (not to mention pretentious) trash?

Clever twist--I think it's awesome!
Am i seeing an art piece? So lovely. Cheers!
I like it!
Looks beautiful to me:)
I think it is very clever!
Artsy yes! :)
Dear Robin,
this is definitely a clever twist.
An elvish mood.
I am writing a lot about our Norwegian Youle Celebration these days.
I would be very interesting in reading about the Hanukkah celebration as well.
I don't really know if that's what you are celebrating, just thought an Israelite would be the right person to ask.

Your Youle post was really interesting Felisol. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Here's a post about Hannukah that I wrote last year. It talks about both the history of the holiday and how we celebrate it :).
PS I scrolled downwards and saw you celebrating Thanksgiving. Being so very old world, I don't really know if that is a Christian tradition or a common thanks to God, the Almighty.
Anyway, I would like to learn about Hanuka from somebody.
From Felisol
Thanksgiving is a secular and family-oriented American holiday. Americans of many different religious backgrounds all celebrate.
Interesting twist of a "not very interesting" original!
You've made a simple picture look great with a festive feel with this editing :)
Happy Ruby Tuesday!
I like your little discussion with Felisol on traditions!
I think you need to have more values and contrasts to get this to be a bit stronger. I like the gray border a lot. Maybe one more color, even a different shade of red? It is a pretty subject though, and certainly worthy of play. Or maybe don't have in centered. I like the bit of detail on the top right petal.
Off-centered? Hmm... Intriguing.
I couldn't do much more with the contrast in Picasa (I tried) and haven't worked out how to do it in Photoshop yet. I'm learning, but the curve is steep LOL.
It actually looks like a modern painting, lol !
i am seeing red i like old fadey things
I personally love it. Great shot and very clever twist.
It's amazing how a not-very-interesting shot becomes compelling with a simple switch to monochrome. Or in this case, a slightly more complex switch to monochrome.
And experimentation isn't pretentious in and of itself.
No relish in Israel? Seriously?? I can't imagine why not.
Guess they've got their reasons... but man!
It's definitely very ruby!
i like it! it almost looks like a stamp! :) i mean that in a good way... :)
I like your arty take on the fading blossom!
This is like the Bard commenting, sort of, about a rose looking just a sweet, or something like that.
The entire rose color is striking, like you are using a red light to resuscitate the fading rose. The gray frame is a nice touch to this view.
Looks like fun...
It is a pretty shade of red.
It's a clever twist Robin!
Experimenting is always fun! I like it ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
I like it a lot
artsy fartsy is fun, especially when you have such a great sense of humor
it's only pretentious when you take it too seriously
Neat! Experimenting is what these memes are all about. Good on ya for trying something new!
Clever, definitely! Love it, Robin!
