Summer Stock Sunday - Jerusalem Science Museum

.
.
It's a good thing that Summer Stock is more about fun than great photography because I had a lot of the former this week and none at all of the latter...

The Jerusalem Science Museum is a great place to beat the summer heat for a few hours. The kids had been asking to go back for a while, so now that it's summertime and they don't have school or camp on Fridays we figured it was time to head up to Jerusalem and spend the day learning new things cleverly disguised as a fun day out, and of course gathering up good material for Summer Stock - including:

Remarkably mediocre snapshots of the kids doing their thing

And a larger than I'll admit to number of attempts to capture this exhibit showing how "something" (magnetism? electricity? No idea, I didn't actually read the sign. Whoops.) made the paper clips in this bowl jump up and stand at attention every time you pushed the button. Seriously cool, even if don't have any idea what it was supposed to be teaching me.

So what were you up to this week? Fourth of July celebrations? Beach vacations? Just bumming around? Wherever your week took you come share it for Summer Stock Sunday :).

Those kids are so good-looking you couldn't get a bad shot even if you tried.
That is so cool with the paper clips. I always think I must go someday to the Science Museum without my young grandkids and actually read the signs.

Very cool indeed! I think I'd be pushing that button a few times...

Your daughter's dress matches the paper clip colors too. Love all the color.

Great shots of the children. I love the paper clips standing in formation.

Great shots of the paper clips (what color!) and the kids. The one of the kids with the ice cream is lovely - they are charming, as are the hues and tones.

hey, mediocre snapshots are cool, too, especially when you're pre-occupied with actually Enjoying yourself! given that all my shots are 'straight out of the Blackberry' (with the occassional crop and/or retouch), I'm basically using the modern equivalent of an instamatic, so I need to very consciously put aside the idea of creating art, and just have fun with it! wait 'til you see my fireworks/carnival captures next week - laughable, yet still worth a nod in terms of sheer enthusiasm...thanks for giving them a venue!

I love mediocre snapshots. Everything doesn't have to be gallery quality. Summer snapshots especially excel at capturing a fleeting moment in time.

I've been MIA from Summer Stock Sunday for the past few weeks because I had a magnificent vacation to New York City! But I'm back in the game this week.

My husband and I were just talking yesterday evening about how amazing the human eye is. Even the BEST digital camera cannot see what the eye can. So if you miss out on some fine art photos and the trade-off is snapshots that capture you all enjoying life together, it's a WIN. Take a look at Julia's vintage photo this week. NOT fine art photography, but definitely evoke a fun summer day!
