Happy Birthday Miss Mouse

.
Six years ago tomorrow (Tuesday) our Miss Maya Mouse made one hell of a dramatic entrance, right there in the back seat of my car in the taxi stand of the local hospital, followed by an ever-so-delightful life-threatening episode of polycythemia and several days in the NICU (caused by the hospital staff's panic at her birth, but that's a story for another day, or perhaps another year - she's fine now but I still have some processing to do before I can put it all down on paper), and ever since she's been setting her own agenda.
.
Her path has had more twists and turns than most but she's reaching for the stars, climbing higher and higher each year and taking our hearts, and our breath, away right along with her.
.
Happy birthday beautiful girl, mommy loves you all the way up until space.

  6. Your daughter, resplendent in her ruby pink, is beautiful. She arrived in this world under trying circumstances, but that is sort-of forgotten when she is happily at play. a wonderful celebration for a nice girl...

  12. I hope your daughter has a very happy birthday. And I thought my daughter's birth was dramatic (24 years ago) but your experience makes my labor and delivery seem tame.

  37. Happy Birthday Maya,
My daughter was born 28 years ago yesterday and we also had a bout of polycythemia which was really scary. She's fine now and is herself a mother of a beautiful baby girl. Looking forward to meeting your mom on Saturday night (and Baila too).

  38. It must be something about the date Risa, how odd, two identical birthdays (though 22 years apart) and both with polycythemia.

I'm looking forward to meeting both of you as well :).

  39. Good heavens, that child has been full of surprises hasn't she? I love birth stories. How we came into this world says a lot I think. I feel you on the need to process a scary and complicated birth. I have one that still makes me shiver and want to hide too. Happy birthday lovely Miss Maya!

  40. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAYA! (even though I know I'm waaaaay late). I've followed your stories of this one for almost a year now, and she is indeed a wonder.

My dad's birthday was 10/13/32, and just being born in eastern NC during the Depression was a complication.
