Skiffs at Dusk

.
I was really taken by the quiet tranquillity of this scene, so different at dusk from the mad rushing about I imagine takes place at dawn when the skiffs rush their owners to their boats which lie further out at anchor. Not having actually been there at dawn I can't be sure that any of this is true, perhaps it's all my own fanciful read on the situation, but if you know differently keep it to yourself, I like my version.
.
And once you're done here, why don't you go visit Mary the Teach, our illustrious host for Ruby Tuesday, with its reds both subtle and bold.

  3. My daughter thinks you look like her teacher. I asked her what she thought of the boats, and she said she SO does NOT want to go boating. But I'd come.

I haven't been on a boat in a long time. Maybe someday.

    Happy RT Robin!

  6. All the boats have been taken in at the marina near me - no skiffs, no big boats, all gone for the Winter... :( Happy Ruby Tuesday anyway.
I'd like to see your daughter's birthday cake that Maria Berg mentioned...

  10. Yes, sometimes it's much nicer to imagine how something is than to actually know. Since I've never been there at dawn, I don't know either...and I love your version. ;-)

  11. The boats work well in this tranquil setting as you suggest. Of course, the guys who own these things will all get the same idea to take off at the same time, leading to gridlock in the channel. Boys ant their toys, as the saying goes...

  15. The birthday cake hasn't been made yet - the party is tomorrow. Today I'll bake the cakes (two different-sized bowl cakes) then tomorrow morning I'll decorate them. Wish me luck!

  22. Hey! Carolina Skiff! My homeys have made it all that way? Cool!

And yeah, I'm guessing you're probably right about the dawn part of the equation. Much less chaotic this time of day. What I love is that these are working boats, put up after a day on the job. There's an added element of serenity in that knowledge. Great shot Robin!

  23. I can just hear the little waves slapping the sides of the boats pushing them up against the dock so softly "clunck clunck".
This would have been an awesome Weekend reflection shot too!
