Not mine, and also not dead

No, mine's not dead yet either. It's doing just fine thankyouverymuch (especially to those so-called loved ones who made cracks about three week life spans and death masks).

This pink red-tinged sweetheart is growing beautifully at the Utopia Orchid Park, a breathtakingly gorgeous installation about 40 minutes to the north.

And no, I didn't manage to kill it just by taking it's photograph. At least not yet.

(I think I've got a bit of a complex, wouldn't you say?)

  2. You find the most interesting places to get out and about to photograph -- and then make the most of it!

    This is beautiful!

  4. Is the subject of your photo still thriving or has it expired?

    DID SOMEONE MENTION SCARLET?

    Did someone mention scarlet
Or was it red I heard?
    Perhaps it was a varlet
    Or a vermilion bird
    That shouted out the color
    That’s dearest to my heart.
(It makes me feel much duller
If red is not a part.)

  5. The power of the photographer is limited to shooting a fine photo (to 'shoot' here is actually an endearing word if not taken literally :)

A lovely flower in a sea of beautiful flowers in a botanical garden. Lovely capture!

  7. Orchids are the only flowers surviving indoors in our home. They are neglected most of the time. Once a month I take them out of the east bent window and give them a thorough shower, like monsoon rain. Then after a week I see new buds.
    Once a month does it.
    Great picture.

  9. I content myself with going to one of our wonderful nurseries and taking pictures of their fabulous orchids. I am lethal with these beautiful flowers and I prefer to enjoy them on my walls where they can live forever!!

  12. It's beautiful. :)

I've been surprised at how hardy my orchids have been. I've tried to kill three, but they keep blooming, for the last couple of years now. The secret is usually low light, warmth and humidity, so my kitchen window behind the sink seems to be just the spot!
