HI Robin, I'm home with a sick kid (who of course is feeling fine now but I'm exhausted from him having me up at 4am!). Anyway, noticed your 6 bags of flour! Tell me, bread machine or regular? And do you make all of your bread and how often? I'm new at this and am making my first challah today!!! Rising as we speak...
hope all is well...........
Life does get in the way sometimes. Happy TT.
Regular - Jay starts the kneading in the kitchen aide but then usually finishes it up by hand. We used to have a bread machine but it wasn't up to his standards (Jay is quite the amateur baker. Seriously, he could open an artisanal bakery if he wanted to.)
Enjoy your challah. There's nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked bread in the house. I hope your little one feels better too.
Forgot to answer the second question. We almost never buy bread. Just the occasional package of pitot to keep in the freezer for the kids. He bakes several times a week usually, but it's been more lately because he got a new book and is having fun playing with it. (I did a whole blog entry about that a few weeks ago, it's quite a scene around here.)
I remember COMPLETELY!!! I don't always remember which stories go with which blogger, but quick mention of Jay the baker, and I remembered immediately! too funny.
I'll let you know how it turns out, I'm very excited, but truly can't see it turning into anything more than me starting to do our challot. Dangerous too, I LOVE BREAD!
That reminds me, I need to go shopping. And bake bread. I should bake some bread!
A husband that fills the house with the smell of fresh bread! What a treasure. Happy TT.
Is this the list for next week already ?? lol !
Oh. Did you say your family liked cheese? I prefer Coconut cream pie yogurt myself. ha ha.
I'm having more than my share of those kinds of days too!
One bagel? Why just one? lol....I hate going to the grocery store but its something you just have to do:) Happy TT and thanks for stopping by.
Just one because I really wanted it for breakfast, but Jay bakes all our bread and takes it very personally when I buy something commercial instead LOL. (I keep telling him to make bagels but he's too busy with sourdoughs at the moment.) Hmmm... maybe he'll read this and take the hint!
You just reminded me of half the stuff I forgot at the grocery store! LOL!
I love your header! Your kitchen looks awesome!
That's a good list. One bagel? I assume it was your breakfast for the day? My kids would be mad of I only brought 1 home. :)
Hmmm … reminds me I need to stop for groceries on the way home from Weight Watchers this morning. I hope there’s a break in the rain.
Hugs and blessings,
Your list sounds as weird as mine! Happy TT!
You can cross those off your list. Someone loves dairy.
I don't want to go grocery shopping today. It is too cold out there.
Hmm fresh baked bread is there a better smell in your home?
I love that there's a picture of you here now! Hurray to see your smiling face. I think we all have weeks like this.... What two kinds of milk did you buy? (Milk is a new thing for me.)
Happy TT!
Nice to find someone else who bakes a lot of bread!
You're making me miss my kitchen. It's not nearly as nice as yours, but at least it's bigger than this closet-sized one. I've slowly stopped doing much involved cooking or baking because it's just so much of a hassle in the limited space.
My mother used to bake all our bread growing up. OK, you've inspired me, since I will be cooking up a storm today, maybe I could borrow her bread machine.
Our family LOVES bread and cheese too.
We have no eggs. It's been this way for two weeks.
Can you get me eggs next time you're out?
Btw, ONE bagel? How'd you restrain yourself?
Claudia - I buy skim for me and 3% iron-fortified for my kids (who don't eat that much iron-rich food).
Darla - I bet an RV or boat cookbook would have lots of ideas for things you can manage in a small kitchen, but I know what you mean. I did an entire Passover seder in my first (TINY) kitchen. What a hassle!
Only one bagel because Jay makes bread. I just wanted one for breakfast :).
WOW thats a lot of flour!!
I can tell that your husband makes a lot of bread. Wish I could sample some! :)
One bagel? ONE? How can someone buy only one bagel? Is that legal? LOL
And I am, again, terribly envious of your in-home bakery. Sigh... ; )
Um I buy 2 kinds of milk too! Nice list :D
Thanks for the reminder to go shopping, there's some basics we're missing. Glad you got caught up on your list. *grin*
Happy TT

Dish sponges, oh I'm sorry, that means you have to use them.
Yeah, life, it's that thing that happens when we're busy making other plans. I'm so glad to know you have a life!!
Happy TT!!
I hear that...seems I am in the market every day! I need to go today to....
Aren't your children adorable? What sweeties.
Our shopping carts had 2 items in common!
I hate it when life get in the way. Happy TT
Looks like we bought a few of the same things on our trips to the grocery store this week.
Peach yogurt was just about the only kind I would eat when I was little too. Now I pretty much only eat vanilla. :-)
that Zfatit cheese sounds yummy~
Hey gorgeous. My thirteen would have been school supplies as school starts back for the start of the year next week.
I just wanted to say thanks so much for posting your photo! I love knowing what a blogger looks like!
Smootches.
*LOL* Yummmmy, now I'm hungry!
Thanks for visiting my 13 books TT.
All that flour must mean that someone's baking bread. Yum! I must tell you, Robin, that I am relieved that your "real" life sometimes gets in the way of your awesomely informative thursday thirteens!
