Impersonating a Traffic Signal

.
A bunch of people asked for a photo of my newly undrab hair last week, and since I found myself scrounging the bottom of the old red barrel for this week's Ruby Tuesday I decided to oblige. It's actually the same red it usually is, but the first week is always shockingly, traffic-stoppingly bright. I actually quite like it, it's a shame it fades so quickly into a more sedate auburn.
.
Oh, and ignore the late night, no makeup, grotty old sweatshirt and weird light reflecting off the bathroom mirror. Self portraits are not my forte LOL.

  1. I would never have imagined changing your hair color just for Ruby Tuesday...Just sayin'. However, it is a truly eye-catching color. Did the traffic stop??

  2. So neat! I once dyed my hair red, unfortunately because its so black the color can be barely seen! It happens to with blonde, my hair just turn a little brown lol.

    Love it!

  3. Hi, Robin,
I like your color, it cannot be less, if it's going to be red.
I've got to take a dive in my carrot reds from the eighties.
My daughter screamed,"Go and get your hear back again!"
    Have a happy Ruby Tuesday.

  4. I always knew you could stop traffic, but this isn't exactly what I was thinking.

Your mastery of self-portraits notwithstanding, I notice you did have the presence of mind to flip the image so it isn't backwards. It's a small detail, but an important one in my mind. Nothing more distracting than seeing nokiN right in the middle of your shot. (Unless maybe it's nonaC.)

  8. Don't know if you can find it over there but there is a dye here that will keep you that wonderful color for longer "Manic Panic" it's called.

  9. That's a lovely red! I have not dared to try dyeing my hair red after my hairstylist made a mistake and dyed it purple once.
yikes, that stopped everyone in their tracks. haha....

  12. i love that red shade on your hair. i once dyed my hair deep burgundy, and because i have black hair, the deep burgundy was only obvious when i was in the sunshine---it didn't stop traffic.:D

  14. Well, from one redhead to another - clever idea!
I had the first week of color too.

My post is here: Carletta’s Captures.

  15. If you're a stop light, then I'm the blinking yellow signal. Somehow, my last highlights ended up with streaks of yellow/orange, but like you said, it all fades into something different.

  19. Great hair color and it is a pity that it fades so quickly. I think it's a neat self portrait too. :)

    Sleek, glossy and lipstick red

  24. I love red hair...course I'm partial. I've got a red headed husband and a bunch of red headed kids. People always asked me where the kids got their red hair from...so I started dying mine, so now I'm a red head too!

  26. Very very Julianne Moore ... love it!

  27. Yes, that is quite red. And due to a soul-crushing hair coloring experience when I was 16, I can't have hair that red again. LOL Highlights yes, coloring no. ;) Looks great. :)

  28. Love the hair color!!! I wish your face was showing more, so we can see your wonderful smile!

  29. What would we do without a little dye here and there??? I recently learned how to straighten my hair... and now have one of my teenage dreams fulfilled!

  30. I like the color (which reminds me I need to color coz all the white hairs are sticking out!! ugh) and hey, you lost weight! Your face is so much different!! Yay!

  31. I don't color my hair. Yet. The minute I start seeing grays though...I'm going RED!

  32. Oh how cool! The same thing happens to me. The stylists call mine a cherry cola red and I'm usually pretty bright when I leave the salon.

  33. I love that color on you. It really suits your skin tone. Well done! By the way, if your header shot is of your own kitchen, I have to say how much I admire it. It's spotless and very sleek looking...

  34. I love your hair! I can imagine your being disappointed when it fades... :) Happy Ruby Tuesday! :)

  35. SO dig the color - it looks awesome! And it totally suits you.

More importantly, I love how you take self-portraits. Mine always come out so blurry, no matter how hard I try. :)
