. The newest bridge over Dublin's River Liffey is the Samuel Beckett Bridge, designed by Santiago Calatrava to look like a harp lying on its side. . More skies can be found at Skywatch Friday. .
I agree with the others, that is the most beautiful bridge I've ever seen! What a fantastic shot, Robin! And such lovely skies as well! Have a lovely weekend!
BTW, the two red&white striped chimneys in the background are from an electricity generating station that was decommissioned a couple of weeks ago! The argument now is whether to demolish those twin towers that are part of Dublin's landscape.
LOVE THIS BRIDGE DESIGN!!!! Hi Robin, just sending you this info, as would hate to loose touchxlynda

Its is very beautiful, but already people are calling it the Harp Bridge rather than the Samuel Beckett! The day they delivered the sae-crane to start putting the bridge together we happened to be returning to Dublin by ferry so we had a brilliant view of the kerfuffle!
Actually my children and I (and of course my husband) live in Israel, which is in fact quite far from where we grew up in the US, but Dublin was just a quickie kid-free getaway while my parents were visiting and could watch the kids :).
The why Israel question is a much longer one that I'll save for another day. For now I'll just say that it's home, and has been for twenty years now.
I would LOVE to make a living as a photograper Linda, or at least to make part of my living that way. It would be such an incredible thing, to be able to actually make a living doing and sharing what I love.
To that end, if there are any images here that someone out there wants to purchase that aren't in my shop, by all means let me know and I'll get them in there for you right away :).

The harp in general is an extremely important piece of Irish history I'm told. It's been used in heraldic devices for a long time.
This is fantastic. Form isn't following function here, it's intertwined with it. Brilliant!
Such a beautiful bridge.
Do you know about Paul's bridge meme? Send this one in...it's great, and he'd so appreciate it. Here's last week:

Yes, how musical!
It reminds me of the 'new' bridge in Boston: click here

You got a beautiful photo of it, Robin. I've walked across it, but didn't know it was a harp lying on its side... you're putting me to shame!

What a neat bridge! I have crossed the river Liffy a few times but that was long ago and none of the stone bridges were this marvelous!~
that is a wonderful sky and skyline....my question to you...what took you so far from home? What an adventure for you and your children...

The design of that bridge is so imaginative. It's really a piece of art.
Thanks for sharing.

looks just like the bridge in Jerusalem, that I just recently realized is meant to evoke the image of King David' harp.....
wow--that is a work of art!
