We're back home again after a weekend of sun and fun. It hit 104 F (42 C) one day but the wind was strong enough that it kept things bearable. We went boating, swimming in the Red Sea complete with coral reefs (little ones, we didn't go to the main coral beach since the kids are still much too young to snorkel) and their associated fish, spent lots of time around the hotel pool (and jacuzzi - Maya's favorite part) and even made it back to the Underwater Observatory. The outside observation pools and Red Sea aquarium are usually my favorite haunts, but this year the actual "in ocean" underwater observatory was a real star. I've never seen so many fish in the open water before, there were even two large school of tiny little fish whipping this way and that. Maya particularly loved the Red Sea tanks (that's my girl) but overall the turtle eggs were their clear favorite again this year, no contest.
I'm whipped today. I spent the whole day racing around (oh my poor aching feet) on just four hours of sleep so I'm just going to shut up now and let the photos speak for themselves. It's not like I'm writing anything wildly coherent anyway... Oh, and happy Father's Day to all celebrating.

Looks like an awesome time! We had a bit of an adventure, ourselves, today -- went to a wildlife preserve a few hours from here. It was a good one.
Was the new camera fun??
Coherent enough to know you had loads of fun. And the pictures are wonderful. That first one makes me want to go diving again. Great family pics too. I'm enjoying coming here to see what's new...and of course for pictures. Thanks for the Father's Day greeting too. It's my first!
those pics are great! (you should join in best shot monday, btw) i love the one of maya against the blue of the water...beautiful.
The new camera was a blast. I went a bit nuts... You should all give thanks that I didn't force you to sit through several hundred of them LOL. There will be more fish pics on Wednesday though, but I promise those will only be the winners ;-).
One of these days I really should check out BSM, it sounds fun.
Those pictures are wondeful especially Maya and Itai. Makes me feel a bit homesick, I must say.
Seriously how cool is that to swim in the red sea? Great pictures!!
Wow! That looks awesome. You surely are getting good with the photos.
Don't worry about not "liveblogging" a trip! For goodness sake, it would take half the fun out of it for you! Though, it would be fun to watch it happening, I admit. Glad you got a good family time.
that water looks gorgeous!
I think it's been a while since you've travelled with small children Shelly - there's plenty of blogging time while you're sitting quietly in a hotel room waiting around for them to fall asleep LOL.
New camera? Did you mention this before and I missed it? When did you get it? What did you get? I need details!
All the pictures you've seen have been on the new camera Robert. I upgraded from a fairly crappy point and shoot to a Nikon D40 in April and have been discovering the brave new SLR world ever since. (Actually I had a very old Yashica SLR 20 or 25 years ago in the dark old days before digital, heck, even before the Program setting, but I've managed to forget everything I ever knew and am basically starting over from scratch now.)
Great photos! Looks and sounds like you had a wonderful time! So glad you did but I'm glad you are back too!
What beautiful pictures! So glad you had a great time. :)
That looks like so much fun! The first picture is just gorgeous!
Beautiful family day (and an awesome Nikon)! Whoa ;)
nice
