The dock at dawn

.
One from the archives from me this week. Between the chaos that is back to school season and Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, this weekend, I've barely taken the camera out of its case in weeks. I'm in serious withdrawal, getting the shakes and everything. Thankfully we've got a camping trip planned for this weekend that should offer some great photo opps or else I think I might just rust right away.
.
Visit Monochrome Weekly for more black and white images from all corners of the globe, and a big thank you to Aileni for including my railway image in this week's highlights. I'm honored to be included in such illustrious company - head over there and check out the collection for yourselves, there are some really wonderful shots there.

I really like this picture! You get a very calm feeling! Nice! Thanks for visiting my blog!

Yeah, I guess the placid picture is the opposite of your present situation. Take a deep breath now and then, eh?

Going on a camping trip sound very nice - it was long time since I did that for real.

I do not count camping in the back yard at a friend house as we did this summer.

Good shot, good composition, good balance of light and dark. I have a long way to go, I don't see in monochrome!

I very much like the clean lines in this crisp photo. Happy New Year!

Great shot, Robin. I see all sorts of ghosts sitting out there - just finished Stephen King's Bag of Bones where a very similar dock plays a major part - along with the ghosties.

Nice shot! But to me, it's a lil sad, almost like it's a 'summer's over' shot.

Nice picture with quiet atmosphere. I can imagine it is hard not to use the camera when you are so used to using it;-)

I suspect the water is pretty cold!

It's still hot in Texas, so seeing that water makes me want to jump right in!
Chaos? Take a deep breath. This, too, shall pass.

I don't remember if I wished you a Happy New Year, so L' Shona Tova. I am an old guy, and I can't remember all the details. Nice shot of the water. Yes, very restful. It needs children to bring it alive.

I loved that railroad shot, I can see how Aileni selected it. And I wouldn't be surprised to see this one alongside it next week.

Mazel Tov, girl!

Happy New year!
I'm not the type to sweet toward that lather :) 3ft pool is where I feel safe :)
I really like the water surface - looks so shiny and firm - tempting to throw a skipping stone in.

Oh, that reminds me so much of my childhood...MB & I used to love to swim out to the raft at the beach in Falmouth. We looked longingly at it until we were old enough to do it!
