Fabric Bales

.
Are they called bales? I can't remember. After 20 years of living a bilingual life my English is not what it once was (so it of course makes sense that I work as an editor, doesn't it LOL).

In any case, there are plenty of reds to be found in these bales/rolls/stacks/heaps/whatevers of fabric for sale outside a Tel Aviv store.

Bolts--I think. And what a colorful bunch! I love fabric shops where I can just immerse myself in the color & pattern.
Happy RTuesday!

I dunno what they are called (and never did), but they make a colorful picture.

I love this photograph! The colours are so clear they almost leap at you! And the caves below are spectacular too. There are caves about an hour from here and 18 months ago a group of vandals broke in at night and smashed all the stalagtites and stalagmites they could reach...thousands of years in the making, and....gone. Unbelieveable.

I don't know but there are lots of nice colors and patterns.

Definitely bolts of fabric.

I didn't realize you work as an editor! But you write well so I really should not be surprised.

I don't know if they are bolts or bales, but they are beautiful.

Great shot. I never think of photographying fabrics.

Bolts! That's it! Thanks you two.

Heckety, I am just sick over that story, how devastating. What utter wanton destruction, I'm speechless with horror.

Yep, I've head of bolts of material...but I doubt I would have remembered the term.
Sewing and I don't get along.

Happy Ruby Tuesday, Robin. Your English seems perfect to moi!

* that should be heard

The rubies in the materials are nice, all nice looking patterns. I'd love to be of the means where I could purchase custom made draperies, slip covers and such. I'd pick the material, the artist could produce the custom art. Alas, a dream...but a fine post!

Beautiful blots or rolls, I would say, of summer fabric.
It's so sad that by us buying fabric and sow is more expensive than buying a dress.
Something's rotten in the Kingdom of Norway.
I like flower pattern for my summer dresses, the one to the right is what I would choose.

Beautiful bolts of fabric. I used to enjoy visiting some discount fabric warehouses in New Jersey with a friend, but sadly, the best one closed. I would love to learn to sew, but since it's now so hard to get fabric, I gave up.

Yep, like everybody before me has said...they're bolts of fabric.

But in all fairness, I had to stop and think!!!

Here is MY R T If you come visit...scroll down below my Heads or Tails entry to find my Ruby Tuesday. :o)

aren't they bales when the cotton is first picked
and then bolts when they become fabric?
but then what about silk?

yes I'm rambling, it's that kind of morning

the colors are wonderful Robin

I thought at first it was you "Kitchen-Aid" mixer that was the red object. It's the red fabric! Cool!
I love sewing materials. That looks like really fun material to make things out of.
(Bolts or bales? Who knows! I usually look it up in the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary. By the way, I sympathise with you about feeling a little rusty writing English. I sit in a similar boat. I don't work as an editor. But I dream about getting published.)
Hugs,
Anna

It starts with the letter "b", and they are called bolts. You were close, lolol.

Great shot, so colorful and vivid.

Looks like everyone already answered your terminology question. What a glorious expression of color. LOVE the red and white stripe in such close proximity to the red flowered piece at the end. Scrumptious!

Thanks for your sweet comment yesterday - it meant a lot. :)

meh, I call it pretty fabric for someone else to do something fabulous with.

And yeah, bolts. And I have NO IDEA how I know that.

maryt/theteach said...

nonzamboni, has it right - bolts of fabric... Yes pretty REDs, Robin. Bales of cotton - big and round and laying out in the fields. I was an indexer for many, many years... worked for many different publishing companies in the U.S. as well as the U.N. :)
