What if...

... pigs really could fly? (Would they have to use radar to avoid other air traffic?)

... hell did freeze over? (How would we know?)

... the world really was flat? (Where would the edge be? Would California actually fall into the sea?)

... my grandmother really did have wheels? (Would she in fact have been a trolley car? Where would the passengers sit?)

... someone really did cut off their nose to spite their face? (Wouldn't it leave a gaping bloody hole? Yuck.)

... there really were green men from Mars? (What color would the women be?)

... a watched pot never actually boiled? (Would be all have to cook our pasta blindfolded?)

... all those lurkers actually left a comment and said hello. (We might just say hello back, and give a (virtual) smile, and from there who knows what lovely things could happen.)

What's your what if?
.

Great "what if's" ... we all say them.

What if We could really read peoples minds?

("what? am I a mind reader?")

Hello, hello - I am guilty of not commenting as much lately!

We are on a mini-vacation this weekend, going to a family reunion tomorrow. Should be fun. :)

Delurking to leave a comment and say "hello"... just to see what happens. :)

Great questions! I can only think of really specific things...what if I actually got out of bed early for once? What if I called that guy? What if I did some exercise?!!

The nose one...made me think of, wait, was it Van Gogh, the one that cut off his ear?! Not sure why. Funny list.

Great set of thoughts - couldn't ignore the last one!

How wonderful to wake up this morning and find that I've been visited by friends both old and new. You've all put a wide smile on my face, and I hope I'll be able to do the same as I visit each of you.

Trish - it's been so busy this summer, hasn't it... Have a wonderful time at your reunion. We're traveling to see family this summer as well.

MOM-NOS - it's lovely to see you here. I've been guilty of just lurking on your blog too much as well. I should have posted that I'm thrilled for you and Bud that you've found a way to reach out and grab that chance for significant change, and told you how your words in honor of Evan brought tears to my eyes as I "met" him for the first time through your loving tribute.

Phyllis - a pleasure to see you as always. Any luck figuring out what's ailing your tomatoes?

Kamsin - welcome back my friend. How is life in Japan? You sounded a bit disconnected in your last post. As a long-time expat myself, I know those feelings too, but they lessen in time.

anymommy - yes, it was Van Gogh. Yech!

Stan - your posts in response to the matinee muse prompts really made me think. Thank you for sharing them. I'll definitely be back to hear what else you've got to say.

What if ... I couldn't regularly come here to read and comment ;-)

It would be terrible, terrible!

hi robin...

seems to be simple questions but if reflected deeply its philosophically difficult to ponder LOL!

excellent reply to the prompt. actually most of them put a smile on my face :-)

Robin said...

Ahh Tony, that would be terrible indeed, and Totomai, I'm delighted that I put a smile on your face.

I've long believed that the world is changed by the simple words "what if."

If pigs could fly bacon would go up, and by the way, the earth IS flat. Why won't anyone believe me?

These are good. Let's see:

What if we really knew why the chicken crossed the road...(would we still eat chicken?)

What if it really rained cats and dogs...(ewwwww, what a mess.)

What if I really did have a bone to pick with someone...(ouch!)

That's probably enough. :)

Robin said...

Definitely things to ponder. I've never seen it raining actual cats and dogs, but I did see an actual dead pigeon fall out of the sky once and scare the daylights out of a nearby pedestrian. Who'd have thought a bird would just die in mid-flight like that...

Good luck with the packing and move. I don’t Plurk or Twitter (actually don’t know what either is) but I do try to keep up with folks in Google Reader when time permits. I enjoyed your ‘what if’ list … and commentary.
Hugs and blessings,

Thought provoking stuff!
What if there really were more questions than answers?

If pigs could fly we would have a rat infested sky! Why? http://mcfcuk.blogspot.com/2006/10/ratcatcher.html
