Flowering Tree and Paint

.
A real quickie from me this week - I'm literally in the middle of painting the security bars on one of my bedroom windows (which open out onto the rooftop patio). I'm throwing this post up quickly while the first coat dries. I just scrubbed a bunch of super-duper rust-covering paint off of my arm, which now burns like hell from the turpentine and I'm really not looking forward to going out there to do the second coat. It does look a whole lot better though I must admit. Hopefully that will encourage me to come back this weekend to paint the other window's bars as well as the matching railing along a lower bench-like section of the roof wall. I wouldn't have started this window all by itself at 9 o'clock at night except that we may be doing a bit of work on the roof which will make it difficult to access later, so it was pretty much now or never.

Duty is calling, in the form of a little white paint can. Onward into the abyss and all that.
.
Repeating to self: it will look a lot better, it will look a lot better, it will look a lot better...
.
Oh yeah. The photograph. No, I have no idea what it is. It caught my eye at the festival so I grabbed it, and it was red, so it's this week's Ruby Tuesday shot. Pretty straightforward.

You may consider this a quickie, but I love this flower. Oh, I suppose some flora expert will name it by 2 pm tomorrow...

Good luck with the painting.

Real pretty flower, Robin! Maybe Daryl is right - a fushia? Happy Ruby Tuesday! :) Who wants to paint at 9 o'clock at night? :(

This flowering tree is great! As it is Spring, we are ready in our four-season climate for the seasonal greens. But this red is delicate and offsets the green very well. I like green, but a subtle ruby here and there in the green jungle enhances the look. Nice!

What a pretty flower, I have no idea what it is, tho! This is my first time to your blog, and as soon as I saw your header, I thought "what a great ruby red kitchenaid!" Have you used it yet for Ruby Tuesday? (Love your island!)

Hi, Robin,
A beautiful flower picture. I'm doubting it's a fuchsia though.
In my lame mind fuchsias are double-bladed and often two colored.
The pointed buds look like fuchsia,
I agree.
Once again; they are pretty.
So will your window bars become.
Ever thought of wearing a long sleeved old shirt to avoid paint stains? And turpentine?
Good luck, anyway.

Very nice view from your window. Happy RT

I would have Felisol, but it was about 34 degrees (celsius = mid-90's fahrenheit) last night. I could barely stand to be outside in clothes, let alone in a long sleeve shirt LOL.

A tweeter friend suggested dish detergent to get rid of the turpentine smell and that really worked. Oh, and the bars do look good today. Now to do the rest of them...

That is some intense color. I'll bet it smells as good as it looks!

do painted on security bars work as well as the steel type? I guess most burglars are pretty stupid.
I LOVE the flowers, in any color.

I love your flower, but I also love your photo of your island -- look at all that great red in that photo! And...I love your blog. I'll be back...when I have more time...to read...and enjoy.

Lovely punch of red.... we went to a gathering of elderly folks at our church ... they make the best lunches. For mother's day they gave a few plants as prizes and my mom brought home a red gerbera daisy... love the reds!

What a vivid and beautiful flower. I also enjoyed the latest entry, the photo of the tulips in Holland. Both are perfect for a Ruby Tuesday.

Thank you for stopping by my blog, it was much appreciated.

Hi Robin, Lovely RT Shot, the color is really pretty. I think it looks like a Mandevilia, but can't be sure.

you gotta hunt for the rubies this week
