63 Years Young - Israeli Independence Day

Israeli Independence Day 2011 - Happy 63rd Birthday to this old-new land! If you will it, it really is no dream.

Fireworks were viewed (from right outside my house and yet I still didn't manage to have a tripod at the ready and the camera settings were all off - I really never learn), performers were heard, shaving cream was sprayed (by the older kids, it's a tradition and an unholy mess, don't ask), meat was grilled, friends were visited, and a grand Independence Day was had by all of us here around the island.

Chag sameach to you all.
Yep, it really felt extra good to be Israeli today. Independence Day reminds us of why we made aliyah.

I think it's a fab fireworks photo, despite your description of how you never learn.

Shaving cream? Hm.

Sounds like a fun celebratory day!

Happy Israeli Independence Day!
It's interesting to think of how that is both a long and short period of time.

Fireworks are difficult to photograph. Yours are impressive, I can see a lot of clear detail.

Your day sounds like it was a happy one and full of fun and friends. Just as it should be. Happy Birthday to Israel.

I didn't know about the shaving cream, but the one time I was there for Independence Day, people were spraying canned string over everybody and hitting them on the head with big, colorful plastic hammers that made a squeak with every hit (they didn't hurt...very light weight).

Your photo is great, Robin, even without the tripod.
Happy Independence Day!
A celebration with friends, food, bit of sun and fireworks is a good mix, I think.
