Saint Peter's Square - Bernini's Saints

Or more precisely saints, popes, martyrs and evangelists, sculpted by Bernini and his students to top the colonnade with surrounds the square outside Saint Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.

Oh, and if you wondered where I've been, I was swamped with work (photo and otherwise) last week and then I snuck off to join Jay for a most wonderful weekend in Rome :).

"Snuck off for a weekend in Rome" she says, as if it was a simple little thing!! Wow, how wonderful... I am soo very jealous! And husband/wife getaways are the very best! Good for you!

Many of them look very animated with their hand raised.

The only bad thing about a weekend in Rome would be wanting more than a few days, I imagine.

They look like they are swaying to some music. Gregorian chant?

I agree with Dina, it looks to me as though these guys might be in the middle of some compelling discussion :)
The skies don't get much bluer than that, do they? Wow!

A fantastic photo, Robin...love the lines and angle and color! Wow, a weekend in Rome sounds marvelous...you are lucky to live within a reasonable flight time of Europe.
