Diversions

.
I'm having an immensely stressful day, and the promise of another one tomorrow. When things get really bad I tend to withdraw from human contact and look for something to occupy my brain while the rest of me goes on autopilot.
.

Tonight it was post-processing.
.
I screwed up the settings on a few photos from Maya's class trip yesterday (more on that to follow this weekend as this week's
Summer Stock post) and decided to play around a bit and see if I could salvage anything. It will still never be an award-winning shot, but it's at least now you can actually see her face.

And now I think it's time for a good long soak in the hot tub. Send a few good thoughts our way, would you? We got blindsided today and need a solution to a major problem. I won't rest until I've got the answer I demand, and that we are owed, but it's got the potential to get very stressful in the interim. Sorry to be cryptic, I just don't have the energy to get into it all again right now. I'll fill everyone in soon.

Well if this helps any Maya is a beautiful little girl and the pictures are fantastic. Keep a positive attitude about all things. They generally always work out and when you think in that way, all around you will be fine. Have a great soak. And smile always :) Aloha my friend :)

good thoughts from me to you, I could use some too as we hit a bump in our road today as well, I'm feeling quite out of sorts and quite frankly would love to express my mind in a socially unacceptable way :)

Good job! My camera is broken so I do it on every shot - that is why mine look so weird :) Miss Sunshine :) It was a good movie! How did you manage to put reflection on her iris?
She looks so sweet - totally worth saving. The best thing about post-pross is that you can shoot fast with the speed of life:)

That's quite amazing ... did you use photoshop? I tend to use it when I need to salvage my pics, but I never manage to get it come out that well.

Great job!

I used a combination of my new HDR s/w and Photoshop Elements, and did a whole lot of tweaking :). (This is not an HDR image, but the software is good for lightening, etc. without getting all that extra noise.) I probably spent a whole lot more time than this particular image warrants, but like I said, I was trying to keep myself busy.

You managed to give her a Hollywood quality sparkling eyes! Kind of Jeniffer Aniston for magazine cover iris effect! Glad you liked the flower benches - my husband said they are uselessly made and those pointy edges do not comply with the safety standards! Men :)

Oh I feel you angst .. I played with the photo of mom that I posted on Tuesday, it took me forever to get the contrast right and eliminate the scratches and crap on the old photo..

The fix looks great .. such a punim!

Aw, what a cutie :) I especially love that she's wearing my namesake's cap. I loved those Little Miss and Mr. Men books as a kid! Hope all turns out well for ya!

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone. No resolution yet, but hopefully soon. My mama bear claws are out and they're sharp, and I WILL get what my child needs and is rightfully entitled too.

Stephanie, I'm using a Nikon D40, which is an entry-level DSLR. This shot was taken with a 55-200 zoom lens, I've also got the 18-55 kit lens. An SLR, but a pretty basic one. I really like it, it's more than enough for me at this stage of the game.

Hang in there, Robin. Sorry you're dealing with something large and unexpected.

Your little girl is gorgeous, as usual, and her new room is so cute.
