Click to enlargeThis was really more of an olive trunk, rather than a whole tree. In fact, I'm not sure it was still growing at all. If I remember correctly it was now just a decorative piece in the garden, a semi-living sculpture if you will. To me this one looks like a figure with its arms upstretched.

It sure does! Wow..I like this Robin..it's great in mono against the stone. I wonder how tall they get? By the looks of this, I bet they get pretty big.
They actually get more wide and twisted looking than tall. I'll be posting an example of a really huge one later this week (probably for WW).

I think you're right about the arms. Nice contrast between the rough, crooked tree and the straight lines of the wall.
