Ancient Mosaic - Tabgha

Detail of the mosaic floor of a Byzantine-era church at Tabgha, site of the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and the fishes. Amazingly, this mosaic lay hidden for 1,300 years until the ruins of the church were excavated. The colors are as fresh and vibrant today as they were then.

Your photo does the mosaic justice. You can almost feel each tessera.

Dear Robin,
I admire the way you carefully choose an item and enhances it, so that we all can see, admire and learn.
I always find wonderful things at your site, and expect the Israeli wonders to continue.
The vogue tiles are phenomenal.
So is the synagogue of Capernaum.

Wishing you a wonderful celebration and good things only for the new year.
Yours Felisol

The intricate tile work is beautiful, while the age of the building wall are no problem in holding the tiles up. The artist works wonders with each tile, insignificant by themselves but as a whole - magnificent!

PS: I reconfigured the post, and the pictures are there (for now, anyhow :)
