Bottle brush anyone?

.
I have no idea what it is, but I suspect it would be very useful if you happened to have a few old bottles in need of a cleaning lying around.
.
More ruby red images can be found, as they are every week, right
here.
.

.
Many thanks to
Quilly, who has solved the mystery. Turns out I wasn't far off in thinking it looked like a bottle brush - "This is a Callistemon, more commonly called the [red] Bottle Brush tree. (It comes in white, too.)"

Aren't they beautiful?!
I remember them as common in Australia.
BTW, when my firstborn was born, Israel was still using glass baby bottles and (real) bottle brushes.

That's lovely! It reminds me of camping in the bush in East Africa when the girls pulled these off the trees and chased each other to tickle under the chin! They thought they were so amusing!

They may be called "bottle brush" Robin. We have something similar (not so beautifully colored) and we call it that! Happy Ruby Tuesday! :)

The colors in this are incredible. Don't delude me and tell me they've been enhanced!

This ruby treat is wonderful, the color of each 'bristle' a brilliant ruby. The fact that it offers utility as well as beauty is a real plus!

How oddly colorful! I've never seen them, only heard of the plant. Thanks for sharing...have a great week too.

Robin said...

Not to worry Susan, the colors really are that rich. No enhancement necessary.

I just cannot believe there is someone out there who actually saw the movie "Salt on our Skin, amazing. I even remember where I was the first time I saw it, I think I cried most of the night after that!
Your stuff is pretty cool, very enjoyable.

They abound here in Oz along with many other plants of a similar type. (I'm not 'up' to such things myself otherwise I'd say something botanical!)

Your flower pictures never seize to amaze me.
They are beautiful and so exotic.
Never seen anything like it.
Is the picture new? Do you have these kinds of flowers in Israel at this time of the year.
Sigh. Wish I was there.. Here is ice and snow.

Hi Robyn, It is gorgeous and it's common name in Australia is just that, Bottlebrush. I had no idea they grew in other parts of the world, I thought they were native to Australia. Very nice shot of it too!

Eaton. :)

Robin said...

I don't think they're native to Israel Eaton, but we do see them occasionally as part of someone's deliberate landscaping. They do seem to do well here.

I had to come check you out since your name was also Robin and you live in Israel. I was raised Jewish so I was intrigued.

I had these in my yard years back. They are called the bottle brush bush and/or tree, species is Callistemon. Seriously. LOL.

My grandparents had a Bottle Brush tree outside their home. I was fascinated by it. A little messy once the flower started to lose its petals. I loved to sit beneath it...

Thanks for calling up such sweet memories.
