The color of these deep red beauties always seems to make them taste fuller and more exotic than their common orange cousins, doesn't it?

I love the grungy background. Makes the bloody oranges pop but only in a subtle way.
I got hungry looking at this photo! What a great color...

Blood oranges are delicious, but the name...!!!
A TOUCH OF RED
They say that just one touch of red
Will put big, bold thoughts in your head.
So scarlet’s for you,
And burgundy too,
And cardinal and carmine—‘nuff said!

I'll just ditto the Magical, Mystical Teacher. Love the composition of your photo.
one of the few orange foods I actually like .. and the aroma is even better .. nicely shot!
for the blood-thirsty!:p
Wow....I didnt see it before
When I was a child is was feast near Easter time when the blood oranges came with a boat from Israel.
We didn't have "exotic" fruits all around the year back then.
I haven't seen the bloody ones for quite some time, but I always buy Jaffa when they are available.
I always thought oranges were called that because of their colour. Today, thanks to you I have learned that they do come in different colours.
Actually, I've never heard of a blood orange until today. Interesting. Love the shot!
I love the texture of this photo
have you submitted any shots to food blogs and gourmet mags?
you should ya know :)
Beautiful picture! I've always loved the look of blood oranges. :-D
Blood oranges are so gorgeous and rich-looking. They are like rubies in a salad or stir-fry.
What a great texture and tone study!
Now I sorry I didn't pick up a few at the health food store last week .. they are such interesting beauties.
Bloody right.
Well done, Robin! Thanks for playing Ruby Tuesday!
