In my neighborhood

I have no idea what this is, but it's blooming on a hedge nearby. Oh, and it has red in it, too.

Very pretty, and after reading your previous post I think you should only photograph soft things for a while.

Hi Robin...it looks like oleander to me...but hard to tell without seeing the leaves. Oleander is everywhere around here where I live and can grow very tall and bushy, so I'm sure it will do the same in Israel as we have the same basic climate. The Romans are said to have made tea from the leaves to poison their enemies.

You're probably right Dina. I did get off pretty easily, thank goodness.

Sara, I think you're right, I think it is oleander. Thanks!

I like the variety of things that just grow out of the ground. This is beautiful flora, the surprise that many (alas) think of as weeds and not beauty that showed up uninvited and yet adored...

Looks like a flower one would buy in the shop!
I like the background out-of-focus bit too.

Who cares what it is? As long as there's red in it, it's a delight to behold!

DITTY IN RED

Just a pinch of scarlet
To liven up the place;
Just a hint of ruby
Brushed upon your face;
Just a bit of cherry
Dancing round your toes;
Just some sanguine colors—
That’s the way it goes!

It's just beautiful.
I like the idea of oleander, they're exotic. Never saw them in "real life".
They're fragile, yet so complete, and full of life itself.
