Andromeda's Rock

.
(Have you entered the Shades of Pink giveaway yet? She's giving away one of my custom Photoverse prints! What are you waiting for? Run! Enter! Now!)

According to Greek legend Andromeda was chained to a rock as a sacrifice to a sea monster in penance for her mother's boasting. Was this rocky outcropping off of the ancient port city of Jaffa actually that rock? We'll never know, but legend says that it is, and it is known locally as Andromeda's Rock.

More skies from around the world can be seen each week at Skywatch Friday.

It's a good thing Perseus happened to be sailing by at the time...she would have certainly gotten a very bad case of sunburn otherwise!

I love the shades of blue... water, sky and flag. Very striking!

This is lovely, very serene photo. It should have been the mother that was dumped on the rock, not the daughter, you know, not fair at all! Looks pretty peaceful in your photo, but I wouldn't really fancy sitting on a rock till whenever!

Hey! I know it isn't your fault, but I don't think it's fair for a daughter to be punished for her mother's boasting. Just saying. :)

Lovely photo featuring the flag of Israel!

What a legend and wouldn't it be grand if it was the rock?

I was in your beautiful town last autumn - and walked along the shore there. And took pictures of Andromeda Rock! ...And some other great places in your city of course! :)

It looks like it could be Andromeda's rock. Might as well be it as some other rock! Nice photo.
