I love it, the water, the rowers, and the layers of hills behind them. I imagine the guys/gals on the water are working way too hard to notice the beauty around them.

When I was in high school, I was the coxswain for our JV Four. It was the most affirming and team building experience I had in high school. Sadly, my dad retired and we had to move to a place in the desert where there were no rivers, much less any interest in crew. Just about broke my heart.

There was nothing like those early morning practices to get the juices flowing for the rest of the school day. And even better was when we outpulled the much richer private schools and beat them in David vs. Goliath matches. I still smile...
