Maya's proudest moment

.
Have you figured it out?
.
No?
.
I'll give you a clue - it's not the rollerskating.
.
Now do you see it?
.
.
How about now?

.
.
Yessiree, our very own Divine Miss M (no, not that one) has lost her very first tooth and she couldn't be prouder. In fact, she's been showing it off to everyone she meets, and if they know enough about American kid culture to ask* she's also letting them know that the Tooth Fairy brought her a page of sparkly fish stickers** for her tooth!
.
* There is no tooth fairy here in Israel.
.
**In a fit of genius (if I do say so myself), just before my older child lost his first tooth I sat him down and told him about the tooth fairy (remember, Israeli kids don't know about the tooth fairy). I explained that she brings WHATEVER SHE WANTS. We don't get to pick what she brings, and it's always something small, because "teeth are small". See this way the tooth fairy avoids all those frantic late night searches through her purse looking for the right change (and I suspect she ends up saving a bit too).

No tooth fairy? Bummer...what a great picture and congrats on her tooth. I'd tell her to stick it under her pillow anyways, just in case...oh and make sure she leaves the tooth fairy a snack of celery and lettuce LOL...have to keep her light and trim :) Aloha

Never fear Thom, the tooth fairy did visit her - right on schedule. I don't imagine her belief will last as long as an American child's with no reinforcement from her peers, but I plan to milk it for as long as I can. If you can't believe in magic as a young child then when?

There is no tooth fairy in Bulgaria either. Alex informed me about it when coming from school - Mom what did the tooth fairy bring me? What? It is costly to have American kids :) I bought him a toy for each one of his baby teeth. The second round is coming with Boris's :)

Congratulation to Maya on the loss of her first tooth! A page of sparkly fish stickers is instant gratification, no having to think about what to spend her $$ on.

Oh that is wonderful! She looks so cute!

Okay, so did she lose it on the skates, or fooling around on the stepladder?

*sigh* they grow up so fast.

Mazal tov on this rite of passage.
It's been so long...I almost forgot about the tooth fairy.
Maya looks so sweet in all that gear.

Oooh how I dread remembering about the time I lost my baby teeth. I was soo scared of pulling them out. And Dad used to tease me with a pair of pliers acting as if he was going to pluck them out with that tool!

Brilliant!

Congrats to Maya.

She lost it the night before Mojo. It was loose for a day or two and then she suddenly appeared in the living room at about 10 at night holding out her hand and looking very pleased.

MP - my mom made the shirt, Maya's got a whole collection of personalized t-shirts (this one was of her in her Purim costume). I'm sure my mother would make you one too if you asked ;-).

Congrats, what a big smile and I spot a missing tooth, I hope it wasn't the result of a small misshap while learning!
Keep up the skating its lots of fun.

wow....what a milestone...losing her first tooth! And she looks like she is very steady on those skates!!

For my older kids, we did the tooth fairy for the first few teeth and then kind of phased it out....not sure what I will do with my little ones, yet. : )

There's no tooth fairy in Japan or here in Dubai too and I don't know what to tell my daughter when the time comes.

Pristine's next! Her upper front teeth is a little bit shaky right now...

Congrats to Maya for the milestone. Did you take her to the dentist or you/Maya removed it?

Robin said...

To the dentist? Why? If you just leave them alone they come out by themselves, with or without a little extra help from the kid in question. In her case I think Maya helped it along a bit, but it was about to go on its own :).
