TT - Israel's 60th Independence Day - 8 May 2008

This is what Independence Day looks like in my neighborhood. Despite everything, more flags are flying today than I've seen in years. Here are thirteen of them.

Visit Thursday Thirteen to see what's on everyone else's mind this week.

That is so impressive. I'm linking your piece to this evening's Pink Flamingo wrap-up. Quite moving.

Awesome!! Sixty years -- amazing, isn't it?

Here's to sixty more -- only full of peace, love, and understanding of each other.

I can't see the pictures--I think they're in Flash or something--but happy celebrations regardless. :)

I have three this week:

Happy Independence Day! How do you celebrate? Picnics and fireworks like the US, or something else?

Robin said...

Mainly picnics, or rather bbq's, and fireworks. After a bbq at our house last night and another one at friends today I'm on meat overload at the moment.

Your photos show that it really is a significant time in israel's history. There is a lot of pride and uncertainty. We can only hope for the best.

Happy Independence Day!

My husband is heading to Israel next week (from the States) and is excited for his first trip off this continent. I am jealous and I'll miss him tons, but it's an awesome opportunity.

Thanks for sharing the photos!

Doesn't it just give you the chills to see the spirit of independence in flying of all the flags? I know here in America I could weep with joy and pride when observing this kind of patriotism.

Great pictures. It's nice to see that we aren't the ONLY country where people proudly fly their flag.

Happy TT!
