Robin - this left me with chills. I truly have kept you and the people of Israel in my prayers. May God Bless You and Keep You Safe, may He comfort those who are in pain and in fear. May he touch the hearts of those who would cause you harm... and lead them on a different path. May God Help Us All.

Sometimes people need to look through others eyes.

We become so desensitised to what is happening, sometimes these sort of things are needed to give us a little jolt.

Love to you babe.

Dear Robin,
Guess I don't need to pretend. I do understand. I also remember when the Syrians shot at the Israelis from the Golan heights.
Somehow at least the Norwegians - the media - seem to exploit peoples lack of historic memory. Willingly.
People are being misguided and misinformed.
TV only shows what is happening to the hamaz, never their evil deeds.
BBC world has a more balanced information.
It is so sad.
My late father used to be furious whenever this happened.
He- and I- know that the Jews must have a right to live safely within their own borders, just as the rest of us would want to.

The state Israel is a wonder of God as well as the willpower of a few million inhabitants.
(Imagine, Israel has fewer citizens than New York City!)
They withstood the whole Arabic world and much of the western alike.

Oh, don't despair, you will never be forsaken.

I am ashamed that I know so little about your historical struggle. The news I read always seems to just be bits of shouting people from each side and I do not understand it. Alas, I am better versed in the struggle of my forbears in Ireland.

Please be careful. Please be safe. I hold you and your family, people I have never met, and whom I may never meet, but of whom I have grown inexplicably fond, very dear to my heart. I offer the only word of yours that I know: shalom. Were that it enough to stop this madness.

Unfortunately, it's no longer 30 miles. It's 60 miles, all the way to Petach Tikvah. It's too close, Robin. Way too close. It scares me because when I was a kid living in Israel, we were on the Kinneret and we could see the Jordanian civil war every night. I was at the tachenah merkazeh when it was blown up in Tel Aviv. I was in Afula when it was blown up. I lived too close to the Golan to be safe.

People just DO NOT get it. Did you see my post from last night about San Fransisco and other American cities. Hamas is here, too. They have spread their lies far and wide, and the US media has allowed them to continue lying unabated. The media is unbelievable. They don't even MENTION Israel's stuggle. No, it's all about the Poor Palestinians. There is no accountability whatsoever. Nobody says, "Hey, you made this mess, now you clean it up." Instead they support the death machine that is Hamas. Because us Jews, we're wicked dangerous.

Keep safe. I worry daily about my friends in Israel. I'm trying to keep people informed. I promise to do the best I can.

Thanks for posting this. It lends balance to the insanity here. I'm so frustrated by our media and by the sheer lack of knowledge of the common man...no history, no understanding of world events or places. I stand with Israel and always will.

It's not officially 60 kilometers (NOT miles, 60 kilometers is only 37 miles!) yet Margalit. Those reports were unconfirmed yesterday and have not appeared anywhere else. And for that I am immensely grateful, because my own home sits smack dab on the 60km line, give or take a few hundred meters.

On 9/11, we got our first taste of what you have been going through forever. We didn't like it much. I have often thought about your situation. A small strip of land surrounded by fanatical people that hate you and want to take that strip of land. Don't be mistaken, the vast majority of Americans support Israel and respect your military. I, myself, as a 20 year military vet would rather have an Israeli soldier watching my back than anyone I can think of. I think of you every time I hear of another rocket attack.

You are in everyone's prayers. Great video ("let's pretend); I have sent it to many others.

Your blog is inspiring on many levels...thank you for sharing.

Robin, may it never get to 60 miles. I think about you a lot and hope you stay safe. You are one of the first people to open my eyes to your beautiful country and I can't imagine how hard it must be for those living in the border areas.

Robin - for people who need to understand the history of the State of Isreal...they should take a few minutes to watch this slide show:

Ishttp://www.levitt.com/misc/israel_history.htmlrael

I would love to see this slide show updated to include current events.

We "Americans" need to LEARN FROM HISTORY...we forget much too easily.

Thanks for posting the video. I have always had a love for Israel, even before many trip were taken. Though I hate fighting, I also hate the injustice (mass media) that has been shown.

I am praying for you and all of Israel and for the troops as the march ahead.

Wow, that is well done and yes it gives us your perspective--I so feel for you.... though I do not pretend to understand.... 911 was a wake up call it was far from me but not from my loved ones .. do you live each day in fear are you able to have the faith it takes to do that? I will continue to pray --very seriously in addition to your safety, and a swift end -what should we pray for?

How about that everyone in the region, and particularly the leaders, will realize that they do not serve their people by promoting violence, that much more could be achieved by setting aside animosity and hatred and working together for a better future for ALL our children.

Praying for you and all of Israel. I agree with your other commenters how frustrating it is to see what the MSM puts out as if Israel is the aggressor. Hardly.

Thank you for sharing this. God bless.

Thinking of you and your family, Robin. I live farther but still in the Middle East so a little bit scare but how much more for you?

I wish for peace to come in your region, whenever it may be. (Although honestly, I don't have any idea as to HOW)

Shannon said...

Oh Robin...I am speachless. My heart is breaking for this world. Why do we kill each other? I will never understand. I pray for peace in your region and in the rest of the world.

Raven said...

Even with this, I don't know what I would do. I so oppose violence. I don't think it is ever the answer, though I don't know what the answer is. I think the situation is more complicated than the propaganda from either side and the many on both sides get caught in the malevolence of the few. I pray for everyone and for an end to it all. May you stay safe and a peaceful end be found to all this before too many more suffer death or injury.

Robin said...

Like I said Raven, I'm as bleeding heart liberal peacenik as they come, but there comes a time when all blind pacifism does is get you killed. We aren't willing to lay down and die anymore.

All it takes to end this is an end to the firing of rockets into Israel and the cessation of illegal arms smuggling (of those same long range rockets) via tunnels from the Sinai. It sounds almost simplistic. Promise to stop shooting at us and this all ends immediately. Sadly, they instead promise death, suicide bombings, kidnappings and more terror. Promise it publicly, loudly and often. No media, no spin. Their own words.

I won't lie down and expose my children to that, and I expect my country to do what it needs to do to protect its citizens.
