.The theme for this week's Thematic Photographic is aged. I like this one. My eye has always been drawn to the old and decrepit, I love the character of these old and half-forgotten objects.

I took this one last month at a nearby moshav. It's a closeup of an old rusted out piece of farming equipment (don't ask me which one, I'm a city kid). I assume it had a long and productive life in some field somewhere before it landed in a rock garden as part of the landscaping, or at least I hope it did.

I thought the title "Old and in the Way" sounded a little familiar, but I'd never heard the song. Jerry, eh? I'm learning more about him all the time, thanks to you :) So technically, no, I didn't get the song reference, sadly. By the way, I love how you sneak those into your posts periodically--it's a pretty cool game :)
The group has been on my mind this week after I drove home from Ashdod with a couple of bluegrass musician friends to the accompaniment of That High Lonesome Sound (also by OAITW) in the cd player.
I like bluegrass, but I'm still in the amateur stages with my knowledge. Cool story--I tend to associate music with different times of my life, places I've been, etc.
By the way--I got so wrapped up in the music aspect that I forgot to comment on your photo my first time around. I think it's really cool that you can take a picture of rusty farm machinery and make it look beautiful. You have real talent, Robin!
I did not get the music ref! I feel out of touch! Must go study up so I can keep up the facade of being slightly musically snotty!

Interesting shot. I grew up in a rural area, but I have no idea what piece of farming equipment this might be, either. Good photo subject.

Your beautiful photo of old machinery reminds me of the time I spent on Kibbutz Yavneh. Back then (1980) the olive factory looked like it was built in the 1950's. I hope they've updated since. They do make tasty olives.
My sister was on Kibbutz Yavneh for about 6 months after college. She worked in the olive factory too. Only problem is she hates olives LOL.
That's a beautiful piece of farm equipment. I can smell the manure on my grandpa's ranch just looking at it. Mmmm.
Back i nearly December I was down in Jacksonville, NC for a Schutzhund trial and the course was set up at a sod farm, complete with its own junkyard (I assume the machinery therein consigned was being cannibalized for parts.)
Since we had a bit of a wait before the dogs started doing their thing I wandered around the scrapyard with my camera. When I came back my friend asked if I'd found anything photo worthy, to which I replied, "Of course! Rusty junk always makes interesting photos!"
Thanks for reminding me of those shots... I hadn't even considered them when I was looking for candidates for this theme!

They say old is gold and this truly shows in your picture! Great work again!

It almost makes me cry to think about the labor that someone put into it -- and now it sits there all forlorn. (giving it human emotions --)
Intriguing and fascinating and unimaginable as to its use? But definitely interesting!
I love rusted pieces such as this... did you know that I used to drive farm equipment??? ooops there went one of my honest facts...;-)
I like that this piece has even a whole other life... through your lens...
