TT - 13 Random Thoughts

A list of random thoughts percolating through my brain this week, completely without point or theme (somewhat like me)...

1. Every time my son starts playing with his YuGiOh (is that how you spell that?) he starts talking in this very strange voice. He sounds just like the cartoon.

2. I think my friend is really going to like her birthday gift. It's not at all my taste, but it should be exactly hers.

3. If it's storming tomorrow Itai's hockey practice will be cancelled (gee whiz, that would be just awful *wink*)

4. Where in the name of all that's holy is the stupid Dora Goes to the Dentist book we took from the library. It has vanished into thin air. I've been searching for days, I'm even dreaming about that stupid book. I don't want to go back to the library until I've found it.

5. We're invited to my neighbor's for Hannukah candlelighting and latkes this evening.

6. I'm bringing cheese straws (they're in the oven now and smell AMAZING). I'll put them in a glass cookie jar that I'm giving her as a gift.

7. From there I have to dash to Tel Aviv for my friend's birthday shindig (leaving husband and kids at home).

8. Maya's got the day off tomorrow, we're meeting friends at a local playspace.

9. Mmmm... coffee

10. Just tasted a cheese straw. Yup, they're good. Deadly in fact. I hope there will be enough left to take over.

11. Work is kicking my butt this week.

12. While I'm baking cheese straws, Jay is preparing 2 sweet yeast braids - one stuffed with dates and the other with chocolate and peanut butter. Reese's has nothing on this guy.

13. It's probably long past time to take down Maya's Sukkot decoration and replace it with something for Hannukah.

No wonder I'm not a very deep thinker - I have too much nonsense cluttering up my brain!

#2 is ALWAYS impossible for me to achieve! I always want that gift is reminding that person on me, that is associating with me in some way and if I don't want to be associate with certain thing I just skipping it.
Truth that is often a big problem...

Oh and I always wanted to taste latke (this probably sounds silly to you since it's something quite ordinary to you). Sounds great!

Happy Hanukkah and TT from Serbia!

Fun TT. It took me forever to come up with a post idea this week, but it's up now. I may steal your idea for next week if I still draw a blank!

You usu. manage to make my mouth water with your TTs because of the foods you mention. I have never had cheese straws or sweet yeast braids... but man do they sound scrumptious! I am curious as to what you bought your friend for her birthday. If you can't tell us outright, how about a little hint?

I loved this list, it made me smile the whole way through! The cheese straws sound interesting, I think I'll try them this weekend :-)

Yep, your comment came through. :D

There's no hockey team in Riverview. Yet. Stay tuned... that's a long-range plan.

We were at a friend's house for latkes and candle lighting tonight, too -- but we didn't bring cheese straws. Feel free to share the recipe, babe!!!

#4. We have a copy of that book. I'll send it your way and you can return that to the library. It'll get it the hell out of my house and you'll have a book to return. It's a win-win situation. Let's just hope they don't realize my kids have eaten the edges and it's in English.

#6. Pardon me while I drool.

#9 could be my mantra.

#12. Mmmmm....

It's the library book that's clouding your creative mind, lol. Here's a few ideas, have you gone away lately? Maybe in a suitcase? Under a seat, cushion or behind a bookcase?

The cheese straws and bread both sound delicious. Oh, my, I just looked at the recipe, mmmm just my kind of holiday food!

I'm probably making latkes tomorrow. Sorry the book gremlins have borrowed the book from you. They do that at the most inconvenient times.

Happy TT and thanks for stopping by.

I love lists like this. It gives me some insight into ordinary lives. (Mine's not ordinary - it's boring!)

Happy TT!

Malcolm - The present was just a small trinket - a magnetic note pad to stick on the refrigerator, but it was in this very kitschy romantic floral pattern. I hated it, she loved it :). That's what it's all about, right? Finding something that tells the person, I put some thought into finding the perfect thing for you.

Susan - the recipe for the cheese straws is linked. I found it by googling, I think it's from AllRecipes? The yeast braid is an investment in time and energy - if you (or anyone else) want that recipe let me know and I'll scan it for you.

#4 has happened to us countless times but I've only ever had to actually buy one once... the library lost a video once and tried to charge me for it, but we got out of it eventually. I still don't know if they ever found it.

I hope work calms down for you soon. Happy Hannukah!

I love random list but I'm not brave enough to do one yet. There's just no telling where my mind would go and that could traumatize some folks. :)

My TT is up now. Hope you make it by. :)

The missing library book-I did this at least once a month when my kids were little. Truthfully, it's going on right now, and I only have one teen left at home. I really came by to see the Gerald Ford eggplant!

I always leave things up way past their time. I just now took an anniversary card down off the shelf, and my anniversary was in July.

I can almost smell the chesse straws baking. I've always wanted to make a yeast braid, I didn't know you could make it with chocolate and peanut butter. If you have time, would you mind scanning the recipe for me.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
